for Homeowners

Since 1984, Adirondack Roots has helped homeowners in the eastern Adirondacks make their homes safer, more efficient and more livable. We’ll empower you to overcome even the biggest challenges—including the threat of losing your home.

home improvements

We’ve helped property owners access over $21 million in state and federal grants to repair and rehabilitate their properties since 1984. That’s 1,100 units—and you may qualify, too.

  • Home rehabilitation: Homeowners may qualify for essential home repairs including roof replacement, new septic, window replacement, and other work that fixes code violations or addresses health and safety issues.
  • Mobile home replacement: If your mobile home has outlived its useful life, you may qualify for a new, energy-efficient model at little or no cost to you.
  • Accessibility modifications: If you or someone in your home has a medically documented disability, we can help with projects such as adding a wheelchair access ramp or lift, installing handrails, or modifying your kitchen or bathroom.
  • Emergency repairs: Grants are available to low-income, elderly homeowners with emergency repair needs.

avoid foreclosure

If you’re in default, foreclosure, or simply can’t afford to make your mortgage payments, Adirondack Roots can help. Our HUD-certified housing counselors will let you know your options and give you the tools to work with your mortgage company.
